By incorporating found photography, wallpaper samples, and other discarded digital imagery, Morgan Slade utilizes the canvas as an open plane where seemingly disparate images cohere with a certain intensity. It is within this moment that a sense of plot or harmony is developed through a collision of signs, however brief and to what significance is open to interpretation. Many of these works point to a momentary narration with a fleeting sense of nostalgia and memorial. With further viewing, the images display elements of solitude, romance and fantasy.
We Protect Our Little Fictions employs the computer as a tool. Images are layered, deconstructed, reappropriated, and reinterpreted to create a dense interplay between memory, time, form, context and emotion.
