Artist Talk: Frankie Slaughter

  • Quirk Gallery Charlottesville 499 West Main Street Charlottesville, VA, 22902 United States (map)

Friday, March 1st, the Charlottesville art community and VCCA will come together at Quirk Gallery to celebrate the newest body of work by Richmond-based artist Frankie Slaughter.

We are thrilled to co-host this event with Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Since 1971, VCCA has provided uninterrupted time and space for artists to produce the finest works of literature, visual art, and music. VCCA hosts over 400 Fellows each year at two locations: Mt. San Angelo in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Amherst, Virginia, and the Moulin à Nef, in Auvillar France. VCCA is pleased to highlight the work of Frankie Slaughter who, along with her family, has supported VCCA for many years.

Quirk Gallery Manager and Curator, Diana Nelson, and Frankie Slaughter will cover several topics in their discussion, including process, materials, her discovery of different media, and where she is now in her career. We’ll talk about the places Frankie’s been and the people who have impacted her along the way. All these elements are components of the interplay of Frankie’s artistic expression. This body of work, titled Interplay, is a visual representation of the interconnectedness of media and message. There will be time saved at the end of the discussion for guest questions. The talk will begin promptly at 6 pm and we expect the discussion to run about 60 minutes.
