KIKI SLAUGHTER

Kiki Slaughter is a contemporary painter inspired by the saturated color fields and gestural mark-making of Abstract Expressionism. She attended The University of Virginia and The Sotheby's Institute of Art, London. Kiki currently lives and works in Richmond, VA.

Slaughter's work is an exploration of the fundamental process of painting. Her approach is intuitive, as she pours scrapes and layers paint in the moment to create dynamic and expressive compositions. She brings her paintings to life through playful brushwork and vibrant hues that explore the relationship between color and texture. Paint is both her method and her muse - she finds inspiration in the very act of painting itself and also draws elements from the world around her, especially nature. Kiki's painterly aesthetic also extends to textiles and wallcoverings, where she translates her original works of art into colorful patterns that encompass her love for both color-saturated canvases and bold interiors.
